During the cleaning process of the pass-through steel pipe shot blasting machine, products such as steel pipes, round bars, axles, and cylindrical shafts are transported via a variable-speed V-roller conveyor into the blasting zone within the machine's chamber. Their entire surfaces are subjected to intense, concentrated abrasive impact and friction from multiple angles, rapidly removing mill scale, rust, and contaminants to produce a clean surface with a specific roughness profile. Workpieces are loaded and unloaded on the entry and exit roller conveyors located outside the cleaning chamber. Abrasive media and rust dust adhering to the steel are removed by a blow-off system; the resulting mixture falls into the chamber hopper and is transported by recovery screws and longitudinal/transverse screw conveyors to the base of the elevator, which lifts the material to the separator at the top of the machine. Cleaned abrasive media falls into the separator hopper for recycling in the blasting process. Dust generated during cleaning is routed through exhaust ducts to a dust collection system, where particulate matter is captured and the purified air is discharged into the atmosphere. Application: Suitable for descaling, cleaning, and pre-treating various cylindrical shafts, round bars, and steel pipes using a continuous pass-through method.

Working Principle

The shot blasting machine designed for round bars and pipes enables continuous, uninterrupted operation, performing descaling, cleaning, and pre-treatment on various steel products—such as steel pipes, round bars, and shafts—via a continuous pass-through process. Operation is simple: the steel material is loaded onto the machine and the start button is pressed; following a brief cycle, the system automatically unloads the processed material, completing the cleaning process and removing all dust and residual shot media. During cleaning, an electrically controlled, variable-speed V-roller conveyor feeds the steel pipes, bars, or shafts into the blasting zone within the machine's main chamber. Inside, the rotation of the V-shaped rollers causes the steel components to rotate, exposing their entire surfaces to intense, multidirectional bombardment and abrasion by the shot media. This rapidly removes mill scale, rust, and contaminants, resulting in a clean surface with a specific roughness profile; workpieces are loaded and unloaded via V-roller conveyors located at the inlet and outlet on either side of the cleaning chamber. Shot media and rust dust adhering to the steel are removed by a blow-off system; the resulting mixture falls into the chamber hopper and is transported by recovery screws to longitudinal and transverse screw conveyors, which gather the material at the base of the elevator. It is then lifted to the separator at the top of the machine, where clean shot media is separated and deposited into the hopper for recirculation. Dust generated during the process is drawn through exhaust ducts to a dust collection system; purified air is discharged into the atmosphere, while particulate dust is captured and collected.

Structural Introduction of Steel Pipe Outer Wall Shot Blasting Machine:The machine consists of a main and auxiliary blast chamber, shot blasting units, a workpiece roller conveyor system, longitudinal screw conveyors, a bucket elevator, a separator, a shot circulation system, a dust removal system, a platform, and an electrical control system. The blast chamber comprises a main chamber and an auxiliary chamber; both feature a large-volume design with a box-shaped upper section and a conical lower section, ensuring that blasting operations take place within a sealed enclosure. Key components include the front and rear auxiliary chambers, the main chamber body, rubber sealing curtains, the blasting zone, protective liners, and shot blasting units.

A. Two to four shot-blasting units are installed at the top or at appropriate angles within the main chamber, positioned to the left and right of the chamber's centerline. The placement, angle, and flow rate (adjusted during commissioning) of these units are strictly controlled to ensure effective cleaning of the workpieces.

B. The interior of the chamber is lined with high-chromium wear-resistant plates that protect the chamber walls and extend its service life. These plates also utilize the rebound effect of the abrasive media to continue striking the workpiece surface, thereby enhancing cleaning quality and efficiency. Wear-resistant plates are installed at the inlet of the conical abrasive collection hopper to block debris and prevent rebounding media from striking the screw conveyor, thereby protecting the conveyor mechanism.

C. The internal chamber liners are secured using bolts with wear-resistant, cast-in-place nut covers; this design protects bolt heads from damage and facilitates easy installation and replacement.

D. Multiple layers of sealing rubber sheets are installed in a triangular overlapping pattern at the chamber's inlet and outlet to effectively prevent abrasive media from escaping.

The conveying system for the steel pipe external surface shot-blasting machine consists of either a support roller mechanism utilizing "V"-shaped rollers or a flat roller conveyor.

Pipe materials are the raw materials used to manufacture pipe fittings; the quality of the material directly determines the quality of the finished fitting. Such materials are widely used in construction projects, power plants, and chemical facilities. They are essential for construction, with common examples including water supply pipes, drainage pipes, gas lines, heating pipes, electrical conduits, and rainwater pipes. With technological advancements, the types of pipes used in home renovations have evolved from ordinary cast iron and concrete pipes—through reinforced concrete, asbestos-cement, ductile iron, and galvanized steel pipes—to modern plastic and aluminum-plastic composite pipes.

Most pipes are made of metal, and since metal products are prone to rusting over time, a "pipe pass-through shot blasting machine" is required for surface cleaning and rust removal. This type of machine is a specific category of steel pipe shot blasting equipment; it removes rust, paint flakes, and dust, revealing the natural metallic finish of the steel. The surface cleanliness achieves the Sa 2.0 standard or higher, creating an ideal surface for subsequent painting or coating.

Pipe pass-through shot blasting machines offer the distinct advantages of low operating costs and surface strengthening capabilities, making them ideal equipment for both rust/contaminant removal and surface strengthening of metal materials. They are suitable for treating the surfaces of steel pipes and related products, removing mill scale, welding slag, and other impurities to reveal a metallic luster and increase surface area, thereby facilitating effective spraying and coating. These machines are widely used in industries such as petrochemicals, steel manufacturing, municipal district heating, and water supply and drainage.

The pipe-type shot blasting machine utilizes electromagnetic variable-speed drives for feeding and discharging, ensuring thorough shot blasting coverage. Designed for easy installation and maintenance, it is equipped with centrifugal blast wheels that deliver high shot flow rates and high projection velocities, thereby significantly enhancing cleaning efficiency and achieving superior surface quality. The system includes a hopper and a screw conveyor to collect stray shot carried out or scattered by the workpieces, as well as an accumulated blast-time monitoring function to guide the timely replacement of wear parts, such as blast wheel blades.

The simulated shot projection patterns (including the determination of blast wheel models, quantities, and spatial positioning) and all technical drawings for the pipe-type shot blasting machine were created using Computer-Aided Design (CAD), resulting in an optimized selection and layout of the blast wheels. This approach enhances abrasive utilization and labor productivity while ensuring effective cleaning and minimizing wear on the blast chamber liners. The interior of the cleaning chamber is protected by ZGMn13 liners secured with specially designed nuts, facilitating easy replacement and ensuring a long service life; these represent a high-quality lining solution for current shot blasting equipment. A full-curtain separator is employed to ensure superior separation performance, and the abrasive control system utilizes pneumatic valves for simple, reliable operation.

Operational precautions for the pipe pass-through shot blasting machine:

1.  Regularly remove dust from the collection bin beneath the dust collector to prevent the dust discharge pipe from becoming clogged, which would impair dust removal efficiency;

2.  Frequently clear away debris from the bottom of the cleaning chamber and from beneath the screen in the separator hopper;

3.  Frequently sweep up any steel shot scattered around the machine to prevent slip-and-fall accidents;

4.  Do not open the loading door until the shot blasting units have come to a complete stop.



This machine is equipped with the HAI Ocean Surge® direct-coupled high-efficiency blast wheel (German design with independent patents, Patent No.: ZL 2015 2 0702933.5).

The blast wheel is the heart of a shot blasting machine, and its design determines the performance of the entire system. The HAI Pengpai® blast wheel comes as standard equipment, delivering superior blasting performance. Available in a variety of sizes and materials, the H-series blast wheel ensures flexibility across diverse manufacturing processes. Its key advantages include enhanced blasting performance, reduced abrasive consumption, significantly extended equipment uptime, and effective noise reduction.The casing is lined with curved, multi-layer labyrinth-style sealing plates; the hot zone features a thickness of 70mm, ensuring excellent sealing performance and a uniform distribution of the projected abrasive media over an expanded coverage area. The internal design allows for the adjustment of abrasive trajectories, thereby enhancing blasting efficiency and minimizing self-wear. Additionally, a specialized dynamic design boosts efficiency by 30% compared to standard blast wheels.

Introduction to the Components of the Shot Blasting Machine


1Blast wheel 
 1. The blast wheel and motor adopt Germany-joint developed high-efficiency HP technology. Compared with conventional old-style blast wheels, this design eliminates multiple friction loss links, lifting motor efficiency by 20%, cutting down fault points and slashing maintenance costs by 50%.

  2.  features a more compact footprint than traditional blast wheels, supports arbitrary installation angle arrangement, and enables far easier inspection and maintenance.

 3.  Constant blasting performance is maintained throughout operation, free from inconsistent and fluctuating cleaning quality seen on conventional units.

 4.  Blades and all wear-resistant consumables are manufactured in Taiwan via high-chromium investment precision casting, delivering outstanding abrasion resistance. Their service life ranges from 1,200 to 4,000 hours, 3–4 times longer than ordinary casting materials.

1. Semi-automatic flow control system for regulating the flow of abrasive media into the blast wheel, featuring manual adjustment of the steel shot flow rate.

3Blasting chamber

1. The shot blasting chamber is constructed from welded manganese steel.

2. Manganese steel protective plates are installed in the "hot zone" of the chamber—specifically covering three-quarters of the area directly exposed to the blast stream—to prevent steel shot from striking the chamber's outer walls; these plates are suspended for easy installation, removal, and replacement.

3. A three-layer sealing structure is installed at the top to prevent steel shot from leaking out during the blasting process.


 

4Variable-frequency automatic speed-regulating conveyor system (comprising an infeed roller conveyor, a shot-blasting zone roller conveyor, and an outfeed roller conveyor with automatic speed regulation)
 Roller conveyor pass-through type:

1. The workpiece conveying system for the entire production line utilizes stepless variable-frequency speed control and consists of an input roller conveyor, a shot-blasting chamber roller conveyor, and an output roller conveyor.

2. The rollers for both the input and output roller tables are manufactured by welding heat-treated shaft ends to high-quality carbon steel seamless pipes, followed by integral machining on a lathe. Machining is performed after welding to ensure both a load-bearing capacity of 0.5 t/m and precise coaxiality.

3. The rollers within the shot blasting chamber that are subjected to the impact of the shot are all fitted with easily replaceable, wear-resistant sleeves made of special high-chromium-molybdenum iron.

4. The roller pitch is 600–800 mm, and the entire line utilizes variable-frequency speed control, enabling both high-speed and low-speed workpiece transport.

Wire mesh-belt conveyor type:

1. The system comprises dozens of transmission components, including carbon steel rollers, sprockets and chains, mesh belts, and bearings. The roller conveyor is divided into three sections: the infeed section, the shot-blasting section, and the discharge section. The rollers are constructed by precision-welding quenched-and-tempered end caps to high-quality seamless carbon steel pipes; their profiles and mounting dimensions are machined after welding to ensure compliance with load-bearing and coaxiality requirements.

2. The roller conveyors inside the blast chamber are equipped with easily replaceable wear-resistant medium-chromium cast iron sleeves. Labyrinth seals made of wear-resistant manganese steel are used at both ends of the roller shafts, completely preventing abrasive media from wearing down the bearings.

3. Utilizes imported HD wear-resistant manganese steel that has undergone solution and tempering treatments to eliminate internal residual stresses, moderately reduce the hardness of the manganese steel wire, and enhance its toughness and ductility.

4. A geared drive motor is installed on the right side of the conveyor belt and directly coupled to the drive roller, propelling both the belt and the workpieces; variable frequency speed control is employed, providing a conveying speed of 0.5–4 m/min.

5. A roller is installed under the driving shaft to serve as a guide and tensioner. When the steel mesh belt is loose, it can be tightened through this mechanism.

5Light curtain sensing system, automatic loading system/automatic unloading system

1. Two sets of light curtain sensing units are installed at the infeed and outfeed openings, respectively; the light curtain resolution can be selected based on workpiece size, and the units are used in pairs.

2. When a workpiece enters the shot blasting chamber, a light curtain at the inlet detects its presence, triggering a delayed start of the blast wheels. A light curtain sensor is also installed at the outlet; when the inlet and outlet sensors detect that no workpieces are passing through, the flow valve closes automatically and immediately to prevent "air blasting" (blasting without a workpiece present).

6Sorting system

1. A mesh screen separator is connected to the elevator and positioned above the magnetic separator; fine material passes through the screen into the magnetic separator, while coarse material and impurities are conveyed by a spiral mechanism along the screen to the discharge port at the rear.

2. It is designed to finely separate usable shot, broken shot, and dust, ensuring the uniformity of the shot media.

3.Featuring a welded structure, the interior contains multiple carefully designed compartments for airflow guidance. An access door on the front allows for routine inspection and maintenance; this door is equipped with an air inlet to provide the necessary airflow for dust separation.

4. An adjustable multi-vane baffle structure is used to regulate the uniformity of the falling abrasive curtain.

5. Stationary magnets installed at both the top and bottom enable the fine separation of usable shot from broken steel shot, ensuring the consistency of the blast media.

6. A storage hopper is connected at the bottom; after separation, the usable shot flows into the hopper for storage and subsequent reuse.
